Not that I listen to the radio all that often, but this one is pretty cool.

How cool is this?

Just freed up some time

Last night I finished my last MBA class.  This means I just freed up a lot of time, so maybe I can finally get into the studio like I've been wanting to do since the beginning of the year.  Time flies so fast!

Dog Orphans Event Recap

Man, it was a hot one, like seven inches from the mid-day sun.

Glad I decided to swing over to the store an pick up one of those EZ-UP tents.  Best money I've spent on "equipment" so far!  And this also means I'll be well equipped to handle future outdoor events (summer BBQ, anyone?).

They were able to raise over $6,000 at the 12th Annual Walk for Paws.  There are photos available, taken by Professional Photographer Jen Osojnicki:  www.4portraits.com, account name: dogorphans, password: 6670

That's unfortunate (Event cancelled)

I found out this morning that the event I was supposed to play for, a benefit for the MS Center at Milford Regional Hospital, was cancelled.  Bummer.

Good news is, I have another great event on Sunday, playing at the 12th Annual Walk for Paws event by Dog Orphans.  Should be a nice warm day... and dogs... and ice cream.  Really, what more could you ask for?

Well, look what I got in the mail today.

I received this via email today:

This is to notify you that we have removed access to your video, All Along The Watchtower (Acoustic Cover), as a result of a notification by Sony Music Entertainment claiming that this material is infringing.

Please Note: Accounts determined to be repeat infringers may be terminated. To avoid this, please delete any videos to which you do not own the rights, and refrain from uploading infringing videos.

For more information, please visit our Copyright Tips guide.

If you believe this claim was made in error, or that you are otherwise authorized to use the content at issue, you may file a counter notice.

Be aware that there may be adverse legal consequences in your country if you make a false or bad faith allegation of copyright infringement by using this process.

Sincerely,

- The YouTube Team

Okay then.  I'd say 90% of my videos are cover songs... and further, that particular video wasn't that great in terms of production quality.  It was recorded the same as this one, and the few others that are on my YouTube page. (I'm moving to an Acoustic Remix YouTube page soon...).

Now... I understand that I am not the "owner" of the song... but go to YouTube, and search "All Along the Watchtower" and "acoustic cover" and see what comes up...

If we were on a mission to find all these musicians covering songs, it's pretty easy.  Just do a search of a song followed by "acoustic cover" or "cover" and spend your days sending people notices.  I know YouTube is just following orders from Sony... but what gives?

Just what I need...

One more thing to try and keep up to date... But I hope to use this as one more way to connect to fans, not only of the music I make, but of all music!

I've got some exciting things in the works.  Next weekend, I'm billing as "A music packed weekend for two great causes."  I'm playing a show on Friday at a dinner and silent auction that will benefit the MS Center at the Milford Regional Medical Center.  On Sunday, I'm playing at Walk for Paws, a fundraiser for Dog Orphans.

Check out the Acoustic Remix FaceBook page for more info.
